Aero Union Takes Flight at McClellan Airport

McClellan, CA – (Nov 14, 2008) McClellan Park announced today its recent lease agreement with Aero Union Corporation (AUC) for approximately 42,000 SF of hangar and office space.  The California based company has opened its third Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Operation at McClellan Park.  AUC’s other operations are located in Chico, California and Tucson, Arizona.

“McClellan Airport is an ideal location for us.  Our P-3 Orion MRO business is growing at a rate that we needed additional space and McClellan Park was there to support us,” said Bob Farinsky, Director of Business Development, Aero Union.  “Since becoming a Lockheed Martin Orion Service Center, we expect our business to grow even more and McClellan Park is the logical choice to support the new business.  In addition to the P-3 Orion MRO business, we have other opportunities we are pursuing on both transport and rotor-wing aircraft where additional hangar space will be needed.”

NASA P-3 Orion arrives at the new McClellan facility for Annual Maintenance

Home of the P-3 Orion, an enviable multi-mission aircraft, the new 42,000 SF hangar is currently being used to perform P-3 SSI and other heavy maintenance activities.  Designed to accommodate P-3 and C-130/L-382G aircraft, the new facility has access to a 10,700 ft runway, full IFR instrument approach and the only 24/7/365 FBO in the Sacramento Valley.

Dan Dawson, Maintenance Manager for the McClellan and Chico operation stated, “We’re pleased to have the additional hangar capacity in close proximity to our Chico operation.  There are several benefits to having the aircraft maintenance facilities at McClellan including access to a much larger labor pool to support the growing business.  Currently we have one P-3 Orion aircraft at the new hangar facility and two additional P-3 aircraft scheduled for arrival in the coming weeks.”
